The Foundation: God's Love for Humanity
God is love: The core of Christian teaching is that God himself is love (1 John 4:8). His nature is inherently loving, and He demonstrated this ultimate love by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for humanity's sins (John 3:16, Romans 5:8).
We love because He first loved us: Our capacity and motivation to love others stem from God's prior love for us (1 John 4:19). It's a response to His grace and an outpouring of the love He has poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5).
